Rooted Verizon G'Zone Commando

Redgreen

WOW!

All's still well since rooting the other night.

Since I rooted my Verizon G'Zone Commando Android I've moved from nearly redlining at 80% while resting to hanging in at around 50%.
Then I downloaded Titanium Backup and backed-up/uninstalled all the Verizon BloatWare.
Then I upgraded to Titanium Backup Pro and ran these:
[✔] Dalvik cache cleaner
[✔] Integrate Dalvik cache system elements into ROM
[✔] Convert user apps <=> system apps
[✔] Integrate system app updates into ROM
Then I rebooted.

I guess the next step is trying out some Super Chargers like the ones at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276

NO bloat ware.
Look at the Superuser.  He makes apps like Open Garden Tether, and Screenshot available.
Worth the risk of ending up with a brick:)

Shit Mountain Bikers Say - YouTube

Fixed First Freshies

First freshies of the season for me and TTOB (not TTB-Todd the Biker Skopic but TTOB-Todd the Other Biker)

Conditions were not the let-some-air-outta-your-tires-and-float type.  An inch of wet snow with a freezing rain crust made for fine traction and slow crunchy slogging.  Extra credit was worth double points today;-)  Rain was misty and didn't freeze til it landed so helmet/jacket/bike/gloves/beard came home with a nice clear coat.

We left some freshies out there for the late crew as we skipped Cascade and Upper Ridge.

Stupid Android Garmin app lost my ride cuz I tried to sync from the basement....grrr!

Tubing at Ski Roundtop

Had a ball tubing with the girl scouts.

Big Playoff Weekend here in Baldimore, Hon

Here's my sentiments.

Friday DP on the Edge of Freezing

Img_20120120_072452

Trails were in good shape considering temps teetered just around freezing all night.  They were just like waffle mix...

Media_httpwwwkrusteaz_meicu

Mostly krusteaz and frozen with a rare battery spot hither and thither.

I can remember 8 of us.  BB, XX, MC (for a bit), Krazy Karl, JF, Tree-vor, and guest AFCers Jay and Lance (?? I think).  I think at least 6 of us were SS.  I was fixed.

Usual clockwise loop with lots of extra credit cleanings.  The train's pace wasn't super fast but it was super sweet when I saw/heard the engine, XX, and the first 4 cars clean tuffys like the Cascade's Roots/Rock/Reggae and Ridge's rockiest dips...not sure if cars 5 thru caboose pulled 'em too or not.

W and YDT were sorely missed as no DP can penetrate as deeply without them;-P

Five SS's

Five Single Speeds and one Minizzle met at the usual spot at 6. Four
were rigid. Four were freewheels. Three were steel. One fell on a
teensy log whilst trying to StravaKom the Log Trail. One started
with a straight seatpost and finished with a laidback. Minnizle wore
a Garmin! Conditions varied from frozen-fast-cement-dirt to
crispy-crust-heave-rut-remnants.
SEGS were worn by BB, XX, JF, Jerry, CBC

Needed these Last Night

Dye Ektorp Chair and Sofa Covers and Save Hundreds

Ektorp sofas and chairs from IKEA are awesome because the covers come off completely so you can wash/replace them.  Our two sofas and one chair were ready for a makeover so we asked Santa to bring us new covers this year.

Santa didn't want to get off his wallet for the Idemo Brown covers at $149/sofa and $129/chair.  Santa was willing, however, to foot the bill for Blekinge White at $49/sofa and $29/chair.

White sofa covers?!?!?!  With four kids.  Bad idea, right?  Enter Rit Dye which the Elves were willing to ship direct from the Rit workshop for $38.

Check it out

Before pictures

The Recipe for Dying

I skipped the advised prewash step figuring that 100% cotton white covers would be clean enough already.

Split the covers into four equal weight piles.

Img_20120108_140742

Fill the washer with HOT water and add:

  • One cup Kosher salt - Instructions said not to use Iodized salt so I went for Morton Coarse Kosher.  Now our sofas will be ready for Passover;-)

  • One bottle Dark Brown Rit Dye

  • One bottle Cocoa Brown Rit Dye

Img_20120108_140801

Toss in a batch of textiles.

Img_20120108_140815

Turn on the wash cycle and set an alarm to remind you to come back and add more time to the wash cycle.  The instructions say to let the wash cycle go for 30 minutes.  My washer maxed out at a 15 minute cycle so I reset the cycle midstream to end up with 30 minutes total.

Two cold rinse cycles per load seemed enough for the rinse water to run clear of dye.

Throw in the dryer but pull the load out while the covers are not quite totally dry.  This prevents shrinkage.

Img_20120108_140836

Zip the new covers on.

Repeat the recipe steps for the remaining batches.  Run a large load of hot water with soap and bleach to clean the washer.
