Check out this Paul WORD Hub. It's 6 bolt disc and it's got a beefy lockring for fixed gear.
I'll be building it up on a 650b Velocity Blunt wheel soon.
Lotsa possibilities with this hub.
- Disc brake with a fixed gear?!?!?! Who would want to try that? You don't need no steenkin rear brake on a fixie!
- Fixed/Fixed fip flop with a VeloSolo cog on the disc side and a thread on fixed on the regular drive side. Interesting proposition.
- Disc brake with a spin on freewheel. Yes, fixie threads accept spin on BMX freewheels just fine. Ahhh, that's more like it.
- Fixed/Free flip flop. Nah, bad idea! No worky rim brakes on the Blunt, brotha.
I had a set of Paul WORD hubs on my 1999 Bianchi B@ss. They are awesome, but had no disc tabs BITD;-( Rode them for 10 years before needing any type of service. Rear bearings were shot and the drive side brass washer dropout had cracked;-(
New cartridge bearings for the rear and new Stainless Fancy Bolt Replacement Washers. Then I threw the wheels on Jen's Monocog;-)
